Next Generation Music

Next Generation Music’, was an revolutionary education project bought to North Yorkshire by one of Europe’s largest public sector led, open access, broadband infrastructure initiatives, Nynet.

In association with the Southbank Symphonia, Nynet provided a week long programme of cutting edge multicentre musical master classes. Utilizing the forefront of Video Conferring equipment provided by ANS Group, Nynet were able to offer over 100 pupils in rural schools the opportunity to work with professional musicians on the other side of the county to refine their musical performances. Footage of the master classes can we seen on the BBC website.

The weeks workshop programme ended in a celebratory concert with students being given the opportunity to play with the Southbank Sinfonia in a orchestra of 100 players. The Concert aptly named ‘Training Tracks’ took place in the Station Hall at the National Railway Museum in York.

Event and Management Services, provided event planning and production management Services to the weeks programme, providing Nynet with Logistical Support, Sound and Lighting Equipment for the weeks workshops and transforming the National Railway into a concert hall for the Finale Concert. Suppliers include Sound and Lighting by CSS, Projection by Production AV, Chairs from City Furniture, and Music Stands from STS Touring.

Event and Management Services were also given the brief to make a high quality video of the conference to be used for marketing purposes in the future. This was achieved through the expertise of Cutting Edge Productions.

Greenbelt Festival 2009!

E&MS were ecstatic to be working with Greenbelt Festival 2009 for a 11th year now on arguably one of their best years yet. The arts festival with a Christian foundation, which is in its 36th year, had an attendance of around 21,000.

As always the festival was relaxed and friendly, with all Greenbelters soaking up the sunny weather.
The crowd were amazing, with no trouble over the course of the festival. The attendees really got involved in everything, from the arts and craft sections, face painting, to the busking stage and dressing up galore. The music was amazing with such acts as Athlete, Duke Special, Royksopp all exuding such energy and charisma.

The Christian foundation of the festival was not lost on anyone once Sunday arrived; a calm serenity fell over the crowd as a mass service began. Lively and creative re-enactments of biblical events such as Noah’s Ark were on the agenda and were a pleasure to watch.

Here at E&MS, as our festival season draws to a close, we would once again like to thank all our contractors, crew and production team for all the hard work you did over the course of the festival. We appreciate your efforts so much and we hope you had as much fun as we did!!

Morgan extravaganza on the Prom

It was an unusual Saturday on the 4th July in Cheltenham, a flock of Morgan’s descended onto the Prom to dazzle in the summer sunshine for the public to admire. This was the marking of the start of the Morgan Centenary Celebrations in Cheltenham. There were a dozen cars from the classic Morgan to the brand new AeroMax owned by the man, Charles Morgan.

There was plenty to keep the children occupied while the parents listened to the talks from Charles Morgan and Zog Zielder about the past, present and future of the Morgan.
Heart FM played musical statues, giving away I-pod for the best statue.
Pudsey the Bear was there in aid of Children in Need, Morgan are raffling off a 4/4 Sport for only £5 a ticket. This car is extra special as it had been taken around Europe and Britain on a unique Centenary tour. Famous Morgan enthusiasts, such as Carol Vorderman, Richard Hammond and many more signed the bonnet of this car, making it a very special prize. The proceeds raised went Children In Need and the winner will be drawn on live TV on the night of Children in Need.

This was a wonderful event to launch the week long centenary celebrations of Morgan in Cheltenham, lets hope we are able to repeat this again in 50 years.

There were Morgan enthusiasts from 28 different countries Over 2,500 Morgan’s gracefully making their entrance to the Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday 1st August. There was much to do over the day with a tented shopping village with many stalls to inspect, demonstrations by The Royal Artillery parachute display team to see and a talk from Charles Morgan himself. The evening ended with a bang with two tribute bands ‘The Rolling Clones’ and ‘One night of Queen’ playing a medley of well known songs to the crowd outside. A grand dinner was held for 850 VIP guests, with the fantastic Jazz band ‘Ray Gelato and The Giants’ and Morgan’s hanging from the ceiling.

Sunday was an even more popular day with a grand showing of 3,200 Morgan cars. There was a thrilling motorbike display from the Army’s White Helmets, the finale of the weekend was with a traditional Prom in the Park feel, time for a picnic and a performance by the English Symphony Orchestra and an explosive display of fireworks.

Louise Dale, Production Assistant, EMS said “This was a truly British event, from ‘One Night of Queen’ to the English Symphony Orchestra. Looking out across the racecourse car park, all I could see was a glistening sea of Morgan’s, it was wonderful. E&MS hope Morgan are able to keep producing these beautiful cars so we are able to celebrate this fantastic piece of craftsmanship all over again in 50 years.”
